Grading & Assessment

Effective at the start of the 2024-2025 school year, we will adopt a traditional 10-point grading scale for all students in
grades 5-12:

A: 90 - 100
B: 80 - 89
C: 70 - 79
D: 60 - 69
F: 59 and below

Additionally, our grading system will now include three categories in all courses in grades 5-12, each contributing
to the final grade with the following weights: Practice (30%), Assessment (30%), and Evaluation (40%). A minimum of three (3) entries will be recorded in each category per marking period. Please review the Balanced Assessment System document for detailed descriptions of each category.

Our reassessment procedures have been updated for SY 2024-2025, as well. To support every student, we will implement a consistent reassessment process that emphasizes the importance of mastering concepts over simply achieving letter grades. Before reassessment, students will complete a Reassessment Preparation Self-Checklist and
coordinate that reassessment with their teachers. The highest score from the reassessment will be recorded in the grade book and therefore, contribute to accurately reporting student progress toward learning standards.
