Rowan College of South Jersey

APSHS has partnered with Rowan College of South Jersey to allow students the opportunity to earn college credits while they are in high school.  This program, HSOP (High School Options Program),  is for sophomores, juniors, and seniors and is different from our dual credit program.  HSOP allows students to take actual college classes (either in-person or virtual) during the school year or summer.  Classes are discounted at $75 per credit and can be used towards an Associate Degree or be transferred to a 4 year college. Students should see their counselor for more information.

The
School Counts! program provides tuition scholarships for Cumberland County residents who earn four consecutive School Counts! certificates from participating high schools. To earn a School Counts! certificate, students must:

  • have a 95% or better attendance record;

  • have a grade of C, or school-grade equivalent, or higher in every course;

  • have completed Algebra I; and

  • be scheduled to graduate from high school on time.

How Does a Student Sign Up?
All incoming Cumberland County ninth-graders are automatically registered for the School Counts! program. All they have to do is meet the criteria to qualify for the yearly certificates. If a student does not meet the criteria one year they can still qualify for a certificate the following year, but he/she will not be eligible for the School Counts! scholarship.

The School Counts! Scholarship program has also expanded to qualifying students who are in the Career & Technical Education non-credit certificate programs at Rowan College of South Jersey for Cumberland residents. The CTE Scholarship is a $500 reimbursable scholarship students can apply for when registering for a non-credit certificate program. Students must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the scholarship:

  • Must be a Cumberland County resident.
  • Must show a current year tax return in order to demonstrate a financial need (AGI of $65,000 or less per year).
  • In class, students must have a 95% attendance record by certificate completion.
  • Students must maintain a C, or school-grade equivalent, or better in the course/program.
