According to the New Jersey School Law (18A:35), students must obtain 120 credits in order to graduate. In addition, students must meet the requirements of the Arthur P. Schalick High School Attendance Policy and must pass the Department of Education approved standardized assessment (NJGPA) or meet the requirements for the alternate pathways. Effective with the class of 2025 and beyond, students must also submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
Completing the FAFSA is an important step in planning for life after high school. The FAFSA determines eligibility for federal and state financial aid, including grants, scholarships, work-study, and student loans. Even if you do not think you will qualify for financial aid or plan to attend college immediately, completing the FAFSA can open doors to financial opportunities.
New Jersey Graduation Requirement: Students are required to complete and submit the FAFSA (or an approved waiver, if eligible) as a graduation requirement.
Any student not meeting the aforementioned requirements will not receive a APSHS diploma.
